How much does this staroffice cost ? Is it less expensive that MS office ?
What platform does it work on--Windows, Unix, Linux ?
Is any trial version available for download ?

Star Office is free. I believe it can be used on Linux, Windows and Unix (someone correct me if I am wrong). It can be downloaded from Sun's website. Try www.java.sun.com

The current version is free.
It works on Windows, Linux and Solaris (Sun's Unix)
You can download the full version for any of the above platforms, or it can sometimes be found on magazine cover discs.

I'd recommend buying the CD for $15 if you decide to use it. Or if you don't have a T1 or similar. The download is nearly 100 MB and the multi-user Schedule Server for the calendar feature isn't in the download.
Have fun!

You mentioned the CD could be purchased for $15? I went to the StarOffice link that Paul posted and could only find the deluxe version for $39.95. If you know a site where we can get it cheaper, please let everyone know. I really would like to try the product out, but I don't want to wait days for it to download (as I only have a 56k connection at home).
I guess my alternative would be to buy (or win!) a copy of your book, as it comes with it, right?
