I am researching possible commercial tools to monitor application servers, such as IBM's Websphere, Iplanet, BEA's Weblogic, etc. This would be used to monitor the health of the server, gather statistics, and trouble shoot performance issues. It would not be used as part of the development process, such as a product like JProbe. I have a partial list, but have found it difficult to locate candidates, which includes products such as Wiley's Introscope, IBM's Resource Anaylyzer (Websphere only), and BMC's Patrol. Are there additional products that I am not aware of, and is there a website that might give a short summary of the major players in this arena?
Thanks,
Ron Jaeger

Hi,
You could consider Borland's AppCenter, a product used to monitor Objects and applications.

I think you are already on the right track. Wiley is my primary choice for monitoring performance, and although I haven't had a lot of experience with it, I hear BMC patrol is a good choice for health monitoring.
BigBrother ( http://bb4.com/features.html ) might be another choice for health monitoring. Your load balancer (BigIP) may also be able to provide health monitoring statistics since it is probably monitoring response times.

I thought of another perf monitoring tool : Covasoft. Although I haven't ever used their tool, I've only read the brochure. Frankly, I've had such good experiences with Wiley that I haven't considered other tools seriously.
