What is the best open source content management system (CMS) for web based applications / sites?

I need something which I can easily configure / customize the user interface layer.

Many, many thanks!

Which one is usefull for you? it depends on your requirements.
one very simple one could be http://www.openedit.org/

but if you looking for something like php based portal systems (phpNuke?) then you should check http://www.jetnuke.org:8080/index.jsp

Out of that list, Magnolia and OpenCMS seem to get the most coverage.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
