configuring apache james

im trying to configure apache james for developing mail reader as my project .But im unable to configure it even after trying so much from apache james wiki and other site tutorials.

so after uncompressing apache james binary zip file james-binary-2.3.1.zip
i ran run.bat .it started correctly but after it when i make changes in config.xml it gives error and closes.

in config.xml i made changes

servernames
  servername gymail.com /servername
/servernames
 
dnsserver
  servers
        server 127.0.0.2 /server
  /servers
  authoritative false /authoritative
/dnsserver
