As with many certification study books, this book is laid out to cover each exam requirement point-by-point. Readers with introductory experience developing Servlet-based web applications will find the explanations in this book easy to follow and comprehend. Each chapter is concluded with a topic summary and about 10 review questions. These are definitely good for the brain while studying. Two additional chapters on a Web Application Case Study, which helps to bring many of the exam topics together, and Servlet Filters, make this book valuable beyond exam studies. The included CD-ROM includes all of the source code in the book, Apache Tomcat and Ant installation files, and an edition of the WhizLabs exam simulator with 52 practice questions.
To pass the SCWCD exam, this very good book, and a bit of study and practice time should do the trick for any Java programmer with introductory knowledge of Servlets. To fully grasp the details and applications of some of the exam objectives, readers will have to pursue additional resources, as some of the explanations of basic concepts were not complete.

I got a chance to follow both Manning/Hanumant's book and this one before my SCWCD exam. I personally found Manning book more useful than this one.
I posted this review long ago in Amazon, just doing a cut/paste from there:
This is a no-nonsense and "to the point" book, extremely focussed on the SCWCD exam. Little too cryptic - one has to literally read between the lines. The examples are more practical and "real-world" type, which gives the chapters a kind of "sense of completion" effect. The cheat-sheets at the end of every chapter helped to revise the important concepts.
However, this book expects a good amount of initial exposure to Servlets and JSP. This book is definitely not for a beginner. Once one has this initial exposure, he will find this book extremely useful for a quick exam preparation/review work. Preparation can be rapid since the chapters are very short and crisp and can be easily completed in one sitting. The presentation and flow is not very impressive; it follows the exam objectives too closely to have a stepwise logical flow. Also, it would have helped more to have more practice questions with every chapter and in the enclosed CD.

I agree. Here's the link:
