The smartcard has been touted as the next revolution in the computer industry, but with proprietary APIs and limited applications smartcards haven't been as popular as first imagined. Now, the JavaCard API hopes to change some of this by providing an open platform that can support multiple application on one smartcard. This talk will discuss some of the advantages of the JavaCard API and present some of the technical details involved in making a Java enabled smart card. Ben Griffin is a part of the Sun Professional Services Java Center in Denver Colorado. The Java Centers are collaborative software engineering spaces providing complete design, development and testing facilities, and comprehensive Java application architecture consulting services. Ben has extensive experience in a wide range of Java related technologies, from Servlets to SmartCards. ======================= Directions to room 353 of the College of Business from Highway 36 (Boulder-Denver Turnpike) >From the South: take highway 36 west until you reach Colorado Blvd and turn left (west) at the light.
