There is a team member who needs introduction to Java training in a one week format. We are looking for a course in the Colorado Springs or Denver area preferably in August. Do you know who offers such a thing? Have you presonally attended such a course? Thanks for your help.

I recommend Although this is an online format, the courses are free and top rate.

Bruce Eckel offers a week long training seminar "Hands on Java." He has been giving this and other lectures in Crested Butte, CO.
If you cannot make it to the seminar, he does have the "Hands on Java" seminar on CD. Check out his web site: I think he is working on a new vesion with updated material.
I was able to hear an abbreviated version of his "Hands on Java" lecture at a Borland developers conference. He is a very good speaker and did a good job of conveting a lot of matreial in a short amount of time.

I took Sun's SL-275 course -- Java Programming Language. It was a 5-day course that covered basic syntax, OO concepts, GUI programming, applets, multithreading and networking. It is a good overview and introduction to the language, and can be followed up with other classes in the Java track. Sun should have training centers in Denver and Colorado Springs, it is just a matter of when the class would be offered at those locations. You can check it out at:
I agree. Here's the link:
