It was a great meeting "Effective Java was handed out 2 lucky winners "
here is the summary:

Web Services and Java Technology
So what are Web Services and why do you care? Web Services respresents a major wave that potentially can change how enterprises and consumers interact with the Web. Instead of a document-centric Web we will get a set of API's to create next generation applications that will access a collection of services from a collection of vendors.
This presentation will present a comprehensive business and technical overview of Web Services and where Java Technology fits. We'll explore what's happening in the standards world regarding SOAP, WSDL, and UDDI and take a look at some Web Services case studies. Then we'll finish with a demonstration of Systinet WASP, a Web Services Platform for Java and C++. (Systinet was formerly known as Idoox.)
Speaker Bio:
Anne Thomas Manes is the Chief Technology Officer at Systinet, the Web Services Infrastructure Company. Anne is a frequent speaker at industry trade shows, author of numerous articles, and a participant in Web services standards development efforts at W3C, UDDI, and JCP. Before joining Systinet, Anne was Director of Market Innovation at Sun Microsystems where she explored innovative ways to apply technology to create new solutions. Before joining Sun, Anne was a senior analyst with the Patricia Seybold Group, and editor-in-chief of "Distributed Computing Monitor", a monthly newsletter. Anne developed her expertise working in field service, education, system administration, development, product management, and technical evangelism at a number of the world's leading hardware and software companies.
