need help

hi all,
b4 i start..is this a dead forum..i cldnt find anything in this forum..
nyway im new to tomcat..im using Tomcat 4.0.1..I followed the description which i found in some site to start development, the example jsp files and servlets are working properly..i created a simple helloworld.jsp and html file..the html file is working but jsp is not compiling..i renamed the jsp file which came up with the tomcat installation i.e I changed numguess.jsp to num.jsp, and it works, but my helloworld.jsp is still now working..can any1 tell me the problem..
