Here are the algorithm books of my choice(and they are well regarded too):
1. Bundle of Algorithms in Java, Third Edition (Parts 1-5): Fundamentals, Data Structures, Sorting, Searching, and Graph Algorithms, Third Edition by Robert Sedgewick (Paperback) ISBN: 0201775786
2. Introduction to Algorithms, Second Edition by Thomas Corman ISBN: 0262032937
I used Data Abstraction and Problem Solving with Java by Carrano and Prichard for 2 terms and found it to be a solid book that is rigorous and interesting. A Head FIrst Data Structures book would rock!
I have searched this one allso. Lot of those books where they use Java seem to start from arrays and end with trees and stacks. This is not the real thing. But this book is the thing.
+1 for "Introduction to algorithms" by Corman/Leiserson/Rivest. It covers lots of interesting topics, and explains them very well. It has pseudocode, no ready-to-tun programs, but I consider that to be a good thing.
