Hi all, Just wanted to publicize the release of a new book on Java GUIs, (Wiley ed.)
It is the result of 5 years of work (more than 800 pages) covering the design and development of complex user interfaces in Java, discussing real-world OOP architectures, toolkits (Swing/SWT) and other related technologies (UI test tools, obfuscators, Java XML-based GUIs, etc.)
The book covers UI design, usability, OOP architectures, practical code samples and more..

I reviewed several sections of the manuscript for this book, it's it's great. I'd love to see this book do well, because it improve the quality of Java user interfaces that people produce. I think this is news people working with Swing really should hear.
Mauro, I hope we will be able to arrange a promotion for this book. Come back any time and hang out here in the Saloon! [ February 19, 2006: Message edited by: Ernest Friedman-Hill ]
I can only echo what Ernest said above. I also reviewed a couple of chapters and together with that table of contents, I'm sure it'll be of great help for Swing developers from junior to senior.
Gee guys.. What an awful post I wrote.. I am reading it now and it is just a plain, shameless plug. Sorry for that!
Anyway, it feels great to be back at the saloon (last book was in 2001, I guess) even if I am always coming here from time to time.. Almost needless to say is the great value you guys provide to the Java community.
Yes, definitely I will arrange a promotion deal with Wiley, although I am open to other suggestions / ideas as well. Promoting this book it's not a matter of royalties ( ) or career (I'm a FTE) to me, but a way to give back to the community.
And finally, thanks guys for your warm welcome! [ February 20, 2006: Message edited by: Muro Marinilli ]
