I m a big fan of 'Head First' series.. Somewhere it was mentioned that Head First UML 2.0 was going to come in 2006.. I couldn't find it anywhere.. Anyone has any news?

Hi Kiran,

Sorry for the long delay. We have a co-author starting on a HF UML book, but it's still in the very early stages. Once the book is getting closer to complete we will let everyone on JavaRanch know. Thanks for your interest!

Thank you Bert!

Great to see the author's reply. I am a big big fan of Head First Series. UML is one of those dry topics without any "writing code" kind of activities involved, but I am sure it will be more interesting once the book gets released.

Eagerly looking forward.
Srikanth.

Hi Guys,

Sorry to say, way back when a few years ago, the authors of HF UML decided that they wouldn't be able to complete the book. We haven't found new authors yet

Sorry,

Bert

Hi Folks,

I'm sure Mr. Bates would come up with a nice book on UML, but in the meantime, I would highly recommend UML 2 Toolkit by Hans-erik Eriksson. The class diagram chapter from that book is a must must read for anyone who is remotely related to object oriented concepts.

I've not found such beautiful explanation anywhere else (not even in Grady Booch's UML User Guide - but Booch's book is extraordinary if you don't know anything about UML).

Another good book is UML 2 Bible - contains tons of diagrams.

On a lighter note, Head First books in general contain so many diagrams, that I'm wondering how many diagram Head First UML would contain

Mr. Bates,

I hope you would find a new author/co-author for this project and we'll see HF-UML in near future. All the best!
