Does anyone know if Head First OOA&D will be shipping any time soon? (I have a lot of OO developers on my Christmas shopping list!)

Brett and Dave and Gary are burning a lot of midnight oil, and Kathy and I are burning a little, to finish up! The book should be available in plenty of time for the holidays!

Bert, that's great news! I'll start making a list. Maybe check it twice. (Gotta find out which OO developers have been naughty or nice.)

Anybody know if "Dave West" (one of the three authors listed) is David West, author of Object Thinking? O'Reilly's Biography doesn't contain any information.

This is fantastic news! I hope everyone involved is relaxing on a beach somewhere with a nice margarita close-by!

Hi Peer, read thread Head First OOAD, on schedule? at headfirstlabs.com. There Brett gave a hint who the real brains (including Dave West) are behind the upcoming HFOOAD book. Regards, Darya

Interesting. The latest I could find on "Dr. David West" was Experience Report: Agile Development Apprenticeship at NMHU. However I can't find anything at the NMHU site about him. His Bio reads:
Dave West has been a software professional since 1968 and an academic (with a lot of industry consulting on the side) since 1988. He is the author of Object Thinking published by Microsoft Press Professional and co-author of a chapter on User Stories (with Kent Beck) in Scenarios, Stories, Use Cases, edited by Ian Alexander and Neil Maiden, published by John Wiley & Sons. He has published numerous papers and presented at many an OOPSLA and Agile Conference. He is currently working on a book, Developing Systems, for spring 2007 publication. He lives in New Mexico but spends too much time consulting in other parts of the country. He hopes to be back in a classroom like the one described in this article by spring 2008.
However there is very little information about "David J. West (Dave West)" the co-author of HFOOAD on Ivar Jacobson International's website. It looks like they are two different people. [ November 20, 2006: Message edited by: Peer Reynders ]
