I just finished reading Head First Java and looking for a book which focusses on exercises. Does anyone know a good follow up book? I really want to practice before trying to make something of my own.

Ya know, this book doesn't have great reviews, because it's not the best for someone learning Java from the start. BUT, if you got through Head First, this is an excellent book, and it's written almost like a textbook, with lots of questions and challenges at the end of each chapter.

Advanced Java Programming - Although it's More Like SCJP Certification Topics than ADVANCED

It's a great reference.

Also, you can always check out the Cattle Drive at JavaRanch. It has a bunch of exercises, free of charge:

Have fun!
