I'm looking at Head First Java and I'm not all the way there, maybe 50% of the way ready to understand where it starts. What would be a good book or two to get me up to speed for Head First Java and its concepts?
The reviews this book has are excellent, the author has a great deal of experience, and I think that it is a very excellent lead into Head First.
Remember, Head First Java is a primer for the SCJP certification. That's a pretty tall order! I don't think too many people could make a certification guide for Sun's prestigious certification an effective first or second book on Java.
