HFJ viewgraphs??

Hi,

I'm going to be teaching a Java 1 type of course (i.e. intro to programming via Java) in September. I plan to use "Head First Java". Does anyone know if there are any pre-made viewgraphs for the book? (ok - so I'm a bit lazy, but I'm just a part-time instructor trying to have a life, and work full time, and teach on the side)

I'd like my presentation to be closly knit to the book. I've been told that the range of student backgrounds may vary from those that can boot a computer and use a browser, ms-word, etc.. to C type of programmers. Obviously, I can't please everyone, so I'm trying to focus on the first type of students. If anyone has any suggestions on good approaches - please let me know.

Just as a point of information - I have searched around, sent email to Kathy and Bert per addresses in HFJ book and I have gotten no response. I guess that Kathy and Bert are too busy to dirty their hands with teachers that are using their books in the classroom. This lack of teacher support will certainly lead me to eventually drop Head First Java when I find a better alternative that has this type of support. This is unfortuante, because the content presentation is really good.

Sincerely,

Eliot

Hey Eliot,

First off, let me apologize for the delay. Your last post got us doing a little research, and we found out that we had a problem with our email. Sorry to say, I never got any of your emails if you sent them to terrapin@wickedlysmart.com. Which, of course, is what is says in the book

We are very happy that you're using the book in your class, and it turns out that we have no problem helping teachers out!

I have written to two HF contacts because I think some teaching materials may be available. I will post back here in the next day or two when I an answer for you.

Again, thanks for using the book!

- Bert
