can pragmatic unit testing be applied to other programming languages also aside from java like python or smalltalk?

Of course, Ronald, pragmatic testing is for any programming language... For more info, u might want to have a look at this thread, in which the authors are talking about the C# version of the book and they also said that they are not sticking to a certain programming language.
