Hi guys,
I am always facinated by these design concepts.Ultimately these are the building blocks of software development.Coding does not take much effort but the design has always been a critical issue.
So I would like to explore my knowledge in this field more.On my earlier project I ve done design part also by developing "use cases" and "sequence diagrams".But still I think it is a vast topic and need further study. So then is it the right book for me.
I am participating in every booksgiveaway section but to no help.
So Carl do not be partial while distributing books yar.
"Just kidding".
At least anybody who who can give links for downloadable books related to UML and Design Patterns.
thanks fellow ranchers.

Hey vibhav,
You are true in your point that desing takes more than coding. If u are interested in design patterns . then u should first read the book "Design Patterns:Elements of reusable Object Oriented Software" by Erich Richard Ralph and John. Its too good for a begineer and clearly explains what design patterns are and gives pointers to more advanced topics.

Vaibhav,
If you are into Java, consider Java Devsign Patterns - A tutorial along with GoF book.
Hope this helps,
Sandeep

Vaibhav,
I am sorry to bother you with this word - GoF.Infact, I did not get it when I first saw it.GoF stands for "Gang of Four".It refers to 4 architects/authors of Design Patterns - Erich Gamma,Richard Helm, Ralph Johnson and John Vlissides.
The name of the Book is "Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software" by the above GoF authors
Hope this helps,
Sandeep

Thanks Sandeep,
I already mentioned that I m new to this field. So I did not know it.But I like to be frank if I do not know something.
It was also the case with "RHE" when I was preparing for the SCJP.There are lot of "short forms" I could learn through this site.I think this the new language being generated Shall we name it "e-language".ie language meant for emails with whole lot of short forms.thanks for your clarification.
BTW,Where has your long and inspiring "signature" below your message gone?

Vaibhav,
That's is right.People do use short forms, as its saves time in typing.I am not sure about "RHE" - may be, they are referring to the famous book on Java Certification by Roberts, Heller and Ernest (popularly called Simon and Roberts).Who knows?
As regards my signature, I do not like to use it any more - It is a problem to click on that checkbox again and again. Also I donot like the ------(line) above my name.More important, I believe, people would be interested in learning and sharing knowledge than to know what I have done.If I am able to put my knowledge to use and answer to the posts, I do not need to market that I have those Certs with me.
Hope this helps,
Sandeep

I am not sure if the Indian edition of this book is available. But it come sooner or later. Will contact Computer Bookshop in Mumbai and will let you know.
Well, there are many more people in this group who are more knowledgable than me.I am just sharing my views - it may be correct or it may not be.The important thing is to express what you think and then depending on the replies on your post, assess your viewpoint.
Thanks,
Sandeep
