Hi all! I am doing a project on UML and its conversion into Java source code. Does anyone know any good web sites and/or books which can detail this type of development - obviously including examples. My project is to develop a tool which would take in UML models (covert them into code) and output a type of e-business system. As I have no clue where to start on this project I would be extremely grateful if anyone could help! Many Thanks.

Vish, JavaRanch gets a lot of visitors with similar sounding names. To avoid confusion and promote a professional atmosphere, we have institued a Naming Policy Vish doen't meet the requirements. Please reregister with a proper name. What program will be used to generate the UML?
I will hopefully be using Rational Rose 98e to generate the UML models. But as I am new to all this I am not too sure yet. If you or anyone else have any thoughts or ideas on other methods I would be grateful. As I am a student I cannot afford to buy any tools. Also as this is a 2 month project it does not have to be large or complex. Many Thanks.

Hi, Nothing to worry. Go thru the UML user guide and Analytical patterns in UML. Go thru the site w3one.net which has equivaluent java code of UML models, etc. Go thru it. If u find it try feel free to mail me Bye Sreeram

HI - thanx for your reply Sreeram regarding UML and Java. U mentioned a web site which would be useful to me www.w3one.net - however there is nothing in the site!! Also u told me to "Go thru the UML user guide and Analytical patterns in UML" where exactly is that?? I would be grateful if you could further assist me on this. Many Thanks.

There is Book by CT Arrington. 'Enterprise Java with UML' by CT Arrington. It It illustrates with an example, a Timecard systems, the steps involved in designing, modeling and developing a Java Application using UML. It comes with CD and lots of Java Code. The book is Intermidiate to advanced

Hi Vish, There are some books on Java Design Patterns which might be helpful to you.Out of the many available books, I like Mark Grand, Patterns in Java,Volume I and Volume II.Also Design Patterns in Java - A Tutorial may be helpful. I would suggest you go through the books by the Three Amingos - User Guide and Reference Manuals before referring to the above books. Hope this helps, Sandeep
