I passed the test with 73% score. The real test is difficult than the mock test and it needs a rational thinking apart from reading Martin Fowler and Larman book. I am sure the preparation for this test will help us in better understanding OO models and intricacies involved there in. I sincerely thank all of you in this forum for helping each other in better understanding. Jaydeep

Hi Congrats for passsing the test. Iam planning to take IBM 486 test in 2 weeks time. Can you answer my following questions: 1. As in the pre test whether I will know about the number of correct answers in the real test. 2. Right now Iam getting above 90% in the pre-test. Am I ready to give the test? 3. Will IBM issue a certificate if I pass this test? Your answers are appreciated. Thanks Sanjay

The pre-test is a right cursor to evaluate your preparedness if you are approaching the questions only with your thinking i.e. without reading the answers. The exam tests your depth in the concept. So when you feel confident go and appear without any thoughts. It is not a very difficult test also. You will get the number of answers correct in the real test too. I have no clue about that IBM certificate. Regards Satya [This message has been edited by Jaydeep Rege (edited July 19, 2001).]

That is great!.I wish to take XML test after attaining the ICED title.I am focussing on IBM VisualAge for Java and IBM Websphere Certifications at the momemt.Would look forward to discussions on XML in JavaRanch sometime down the line. -- Sandeep SCJP2,OCSD(JDeveloper),OCED(Oracle Internet Platform) [This message has been edited by Desai Sandeep (edited July 19, 2001).]

Hi Sanjay,

IBM issues a Certificate only after clearing a particular level of Jcert. You don't get a Certificate exclusively for Test 486.However, if you take one more test by IBM (say VisualAge for Java or Websphere Application Server), you earn a Certificate of IBM Certified Solution Developer. Refer to Jcert Initiative on this Certification Process. Hope this helps, -- Sandeep SCJP2,OCSD(JDeveloper),OCED(Oracle Internet Platform)
I agree. Here's the link: http://ej-technologies/jprofiler - if it wasn't for jprofiler, we would need to
run our stuff on 16 servers instead of 3.
