DESCRIPTION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The successful candidate must to able to work in a fast paced problem solving environment where juggling multiple tasks is commonplace. He or she will be responsible for all areas associated with the Sustaining Engineering and Escalation Management functions for Java Products. This role will include: Manage customer technical escalations (CTE). This involves working with Authorized Service Providers and Engineering, providing regular status updates, and insuring timely resolutions. Share knowledge by contributing and reviewing information in knowledge base Proactively work with other departments and participate in product release cycles to ensure rollout of high quality products Full ownership of the software product once it has been publicly released Point Patch development, integration, and delivery to correct product defects Design, coding, integration, building, and release of product bug fix releases (i.e., "dot dot" releases) Working with development engineering on implementing changes into the development source tree for use in future versions of the products Developing Processes to perform Sustaining Engineering functions PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE: Preferred candidates would have experience in two of the following areas: A proven track record in a technical environment, especially in supporting and/or developing large mission critical applications A heterogeneous distributed environment including various Unix and Windows operating systems Relational databases, such as Oracle, Sybase, MS SQL Server or Informix Knowledge of the Object Oriented Paradigm and its applications Understanding Web Technologies, such as : HTML, HTTP, XML, XSLT, JSP, Web servers (Netscape/iPlanet, Tomcat, JWS, Apache/JServ), Common Gateway Interface (CGI)
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: The successful candidate must be committed to customer satisfaction and have strong interpersonal management skills. He or she must be a strong team player, have excellent time management skills, and be able to demonstrate the following: Object Oriented programming experience using Java, C++, Smalltalk, or similar. Working knowledge of Unix and Windows platforms, such as Solaris, Linux, Win NT/95/98/2000 Superior oral and written communication skills Excellent problem solving skills Ability to grasp and convey complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Special projects within the department and with other departments Development Engineering YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 3-5 FIELD OF STUDY: Computer Science or related MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION: BS or Equivalent Experience
