This week's book giveaways are in the Refactoring and Agile forums. We're giving away four copies each of Re-engineering Legacy Software and Docker in Action and have the authors on-line! See this thread and this one for details.
Its been at least a year since I've posted and I'm about to write a program for my own use. Its sort of like a file viewer which is why I'm basing it on windows explorer. I'd like to use MVC since when I lost my job that was the pattern used on the project and it still seems prevalent today. I know Swing can be used for the View but I'm not sure what the Model and the Controller would be written in. I do understand I will need to get a firmer grasp of MVC but this is just prep work for down the road. Since there will be a lot of file interation would NIO be in the Model or the Controller? I was thinking the model.

Model sounds good. It generally represents the underlying domain objects so that they can be used by any number of views or controllers.
A good question is never answered. It is not a bolt to be tightened into place but a seed to be planted and to bear more seed toward the hope of greening the landscape of the idea. John Ciardi
