We are looking for Java Architects for our .com Consulting Practice. Although we have similar positions nationwide, I am concentrating on middle-America (Denver, Dallas, Chicago)
Salary Ranges: 60K-100K+ depending on years of experience, etc..
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
(Primary responsibilities and accountabilities.)
Java System/Application Architect
As a java architect, you will be responsible for architecting large, enterprise solutions utilizing java technology and OO methodologies for our Fortune 500 clients.
- Create detail designs of application software that needs to be developed.
- Validate technical designs to ensure that all related technology fits together.
- Delivery quality solutions to customer problems using defined methodologies (Rational Unified Process).
- Assist in guiding SunPS in Java technologies.
- Mentor junior staff and impart knowledge to others.
- Assist in managing parts of the SunPS lab in ensuring that the lab has "state-of-the-art" technology in it.
- Support the creation of proposals.
- Raise visibility of SunPS in technical conferences, publications, etc.
- Qualify and manage sub-contractors on projects.
THE FOLLOWING KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ARE TYPICALLY ACQUIRED THROUGH:
2 years of solid java development experience and 6+ years of OOA/D. Must have experience architecting large enterprise systems.
Minimum level of education: BSCS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
At least 2 years of intensive programming experience in Java and the JDK.
- In-depth knowledge of the following: SunOS, Solaris, TCP/IP, C, C++, the UNIX shells, Perl, HTML, CGI-BIN capabilities, etc. JDBC, Java WorkShop, SKIP, JavaScript, TeamWare, Visual WorkShop.
- Knowledge of software development methodologies, code management practices and tools. OMT, OOA OOD, CORBA, middleware. UML, Rational Rose
- Able to communicate effectively on technology areas with mid-level MIS management staff.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Customer focus.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Self starter and ability to manage one's own time.
- Understand project management methodologies.
- Ability to lead technical team.
- Professional composure.
- Published papers; technical conference speaker.
