hi terry,
Hexadecimal numbers are prefixed by '0X' or '0x'.they range from 0..9,a..f.
(totalling 15).
converting a hexa --> Decimal number::
consider a hexanumber as '0xjklmn'now each position in the number has a value that is the ones digit is 1,
tens digit is 16,
hundereds digit is 16*16,
thousnads digit is 16*16*16,
and so on..this bit value is just like in decimal number where the ones digit is 1,tens digit is 10,hundredth digit is 100,..so on
while converting we use the above concept,
thus (jklmn)H ==(j*16*16*16*16 + k*16*16*16 + l*16*16 + m*16 + n*1)D
this is the conversion we use..
thus,(ef)H == (14*16 + 15*1)D
H--Hexadecimal
D--Decimal
hope it helps,
sweety
