Hi Oscar,

I passed few days ago the SCJP 1.4, but, my position is different, I have on hands experience on Java (5+ years), I will tell you and story which I hope it might help you.

My first Java application was a chat (multi-threading, collection based), do you know what I read at that time (1999)?, The Java Tutorial from Sun Microsystems (Which you can find in CHM format; google "java tutorial chm"), I would recommend you you stick the K&B book, but before you read it again, try these two trais: Threads & Collections, remember, K&B is not about teaching you Java, is about to form your Java knowledge to pass the exam.

DON'T GIVE UP, SHI... HAPPENS,

AND HAVE REALLY GOOD LUCK,

Guido.

Hi,

I'm living in Dominican Republic (I'm from Cuba really), I have like 6 years of practical Java experience and I'm in the middle of getting Java certifications to be between the ones that USA/Canada companies would choose to sponsorship via H1-B visa.

I passed the SCJP 1.4 (85%; 52 out of 61 questions; done in one hour), I ordered also Head First EJB to pass the SCBCD 1.3, do you think I'm doing the right thing to be eligible for such processes regarding ur experience?

I'm sorry about this type of question in this forum but as you might guessed, is about the path my life would take which is very important for my family and myself.

Thanks and by the way; Kathy & Bert, keep such wonderful books around :-)

Regarding my last message, I double thank ur books Kathy & Bert, for 3rd world countries we cannot afford a $2,500usd or related numbers on "Sun Education", so anything up to 40 is great to pass the exam ;-)
