Ok, then I think this would be the same in Oracle courses. That's really daunting: Paying for a useless course and in addition wasting holidays and paying for hotel and traveling expenses.

Thanks for your answer and bye,
Ulrich
I wrote to Oracle, but they are not really responsive.
Did you had sign the list every day or only one day?
One question to this mandatory courses:
Because of the time- and money-consuming courses, I was thinking, if I need to go and sit in the classroom. I would buy the course, of course, but some courses are 5 days and for that, I need hotel, waste 5 holidays, have travel expenses and so on. So, is it enough to buy and pay for the course, so that the requirement is fullfilled or do I really need to sit and waste 5 days for nothing?

Thanks for any response.
Ulrich
I had not the time to make the certification before October, and if I look at the requeirements now (stupid classroom course für hundreds of Euros plus travelling), so that the price for the certification increases about 3 times, then I must say, that I don't have fun to do the certification because the benefit is never that high... but if I read, that the number of threads decrease dramatically, that means that many people think like me... perhaps, in a year or so there a no certifications for Java anymore in the Oracle certification program...
Do you have any feeling, how many developers will take the certification after changing the requirements with this needless classroom training?
One question to the top-experienced ;-):
Is it possible to start now the SCJD and end to mid september (I would like to finish before to not have to take this stupid course after the 1st of october).

Thanks in advance,
ULrich

Scheiße Or you can still complete it until 1st of August, right? But it means weekends will be quite busy...

That's correct. But till august, this is impossible for me (family, big removal ...), and if I calculate every costs (course, hotel, no business in these days, travel expenses and so on), this will cost be in minimum 4000€. For these 4000€ I can buy nearly every Java book, that was published, and I don't think I get the same knowledge in these 5 days of some little course...
In germany, it is even more expensive... the $2250 courses cost 2210€+19% tax

I had contact with oracle, and there is no way to omit the courses. That means for me to leave the certifications.
Perhaps, we can write to some print magazines to print some article of this situation (like JavaMagazin in german).
Because this change for the certifcation is made really silently.
I was shocked for this message. I would start the "SCJD" in the middle of this year (submitted the SCJP in 2009), but the cost of nearly $3.000 is inacceptable. This is very disappointing that certified programmers should take absolutely unneccessary courses.
I wrote to Oracle (germany) and wait for their answer concerning this issue...
