Yes! They take at least one week to send the sample questions.

Tell me about it, Hassan! I feel like jumping off the first bridge...

I'd been scoring well on Whizlabs, but the 41% I got on Examlab was disheartening to say the least. That's also the reason why I don't want to rush and book my exam - the fear! Hopefully you are right and the real exam won't be as nasty as this (could it be??).

Hi Chandella,

I extended my exam dates 3-4 times before sitting in the real exam. Just because of fear. If you are doing 41% in ExamLab then you are good to go. I never got more than 37% in ExamLab but secured 75% in the real exam. I can't guarantee you the success because everyone has his own day and luck. But still I would say the real exam was far easier than ExamLab.

One more thing I would like to mention is lack of time. At the end of first round I had only 3 minutes to review my answers. So be careful when about time management.

One tricky question that I faced in the real exam was something like this:

[discussion of a potentially "real" question removed by moderator]

The questions were not that much difficult as compared to ExamLab.

I appeared in the OCPJP exam today. Passed it There were no drag and drop questions. No serialization, notify() and notifyAll(). Total minutes were 150 and passing score is 61%.

I hope it helps.
Hi all,

I passed OCPJP with 75% today. Thanks to Bert and Kathy for writing a very nice book. Thanks to certpal, Mr. Cooray for ExamLab and everyone who helped me in clearing the concepts. Though my score is not very high in percentage but at least I can call myself OCPJP now

It's really difficult to prepare for the exams when you have kids. I spent almost 10 months to prepare for the exam. One thing I would like to mention that real exam was far easier than the mock exams like ExamLab and Practice Exams in B & K book.

50% of the exam questions were PIECE OF CAKE and 50% were REALLY TOUGH.

I booked the exam date in Feb 2011 but when the date was near I practised ExamLab and my initial score was 30%. I never tried ExamLab after that because I was so depressed. Then I extended the exam dates 3-4 times then cancelled the exam from Prometric.

I asked my company to book the exam again from Pearson. Oracle sent me 70 sample questions after the exam booking. I scored 68% in those sample questions and failed because the passing score of sample questions was 71%
I was so scared that I'll fail in the real exam because of the mock tests' result. But in the real exam I scored 75%

One tricky question that I faced in the real exam was something like this:

[DELETED]

I was so confused about this question but at the end I answered B. I am not sure if I was right.

I'm happy to pass the exam in FIRST ATTEMPT. Thanks to all again.

Hi Jacob,

Which mock sites or softwares did you use while preparing for the exam? How tough the real exam was as compared to ExamLab?

Hi,

If you book your exam before August then you will get 70 sample questions from Oracle free of cost. I received them from Oracle and believe me or not they were much easier then Kathy and Berts sample questions or mock tests in the CD. ExamLab.tk is far far harder than those sample questions. I never got more than 37% on ExamLab mock tests. In the mock questions I got 68% in the first attempt.

I don't know about other people but according to my experience ExamLab mock tests put you in stress that you are far away from passing the real exam.

It is actually £202 + £40 VAT i.e. £242 in total.
Hi all,

Oracle sent me some free sample questions of OCPJP test when I booked my Exam. There were total 70 sample questions and pass mark was 70% (higher than actual 61% in real exam). I got 68% in that sample question exam. The sample questions seems to be very easy as compared to ExamLab or Certpal.

The OCPJP Practice Tests Book from Kathy and Bert also contains very difficult and complex questions.

Do I expect the same level of complexity (sample Qs from Oracle) in the real exam or higher than the sample questions?

Can anybody comment on this?

Thanks,
Hassan
Hi Rahul,

Do you have the pdf version of "ocp programmer practice exams book "?
@Asad

How difficult was that? How many percentage did you get?
I just got the Voucher Number from Pearson.

This means the customer services represntators do not have correct information and they are not competetive,
Hi,

When Oracle joined the Pearson testing center for Java exams it was written on their website, if you book an exam now you will get free sample questions.

I have booked the exam and haven't recieved any sample questions. I called Pearson and they said they don't supply sample questions so call Oracle.

Can anyone help?
Hi,

I have just checked the Oracle website and it states that Passing score for Java Standard Edition 6 Programmer Certified Professional Exam is 61%.

The passing score written on coderanch under SCJP FAQs is 58.8%.

Can anyone confirm please whats the actual passing score? I am taking the exam on 15th June.
