These days almost all major service companies of India has Technical architect positions. Companies including Infosys, Wipro and Iflex all has architecting roles and designation. Apparently, any company engaged in product developement requires Architect. Also, Every other company has COE (centre of excellence) or ATG (advanced technology group) which are engaged in domain specific product development.

I take that but DQ hasn't surveyed real paymaster companies. They have surveyed few selected companies which they were doing since 3-4 years.

This doesn't hold true with websphere Portal server 5.1. RAD 6.0 can be used to develop JSP-168 prtlet and deployment on WPS 5.1.
WPS 5.0 didn't support JSP 168 portlet API's and used to have IBM's Proprietary prtlet API's.

KJ Reddy,

You looks quite informative. Do you have any salary figures for IBM/Oracle/GS/Fidelity?

I am also bit curious to know your background?

Any pointers to salary range Please!

I think you are paid quite satifactorily. If pay is the only reason to change job then you can expect 15-20% more in major companies. You can get 30-40% also if you struck gold

DQ list doesn't provide correct picture of paymasters. There are numerous other companis in Bangalore alone which pays better then Candence(#1 in list) are not even in List. If TCS can make it to Paymaster list, then you can understand the authencity of research.

That means that you have been asked to write singleton class. Like min things to code to make a class singleton. You can take singleton as one such exception where you may have write sample code for singleton class.
