If I were a Information Technology employer and all I saw was the Anthropology degree listed on the resume - I would automatically chuck it in the trash. Why? You haven't showed me anything. Can you do the job? Are you dedicated to this field? Are you going to quit in 6 weeks?
Don't forget - there is also the notion of "having paid the price" that comes up as well. I highly doubt that an Anthropology major would have the skills to survive and put up with the 10-12 hour days this field requires.
Reason most companies require the engineering (cs/ee) degree in the first place. Just because it is such a hard degree to get.
