Great position available with an exciting company in the entertainment industry. It is located in Culver City (Greater LA area, south of LA near the coast) Wonderful company with excellent benefits including 401K, medical, vision and dental insurance, employee stock purchase plan, profit sharing, Direct Deposit and more. The senior software engineer is experienced in the design and development of software. This individual has participated in all phases of development in a number of software projects, is proficient in the development of software with little supervision, and has the ability to design and implement a major subsystem within a large scale software project.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Assists with gathering and discovery of requirements.
2. Provides project schedules and milestones to management with minimal coaching.
3. Develops designs based on object-oriented design principles and best practices, which are tailored to the system architecture and are based on product requirements.
4. Promotes and follows software engineering best practices including all phases of the software lifecycle and development of appropriate artifacts (e.g., functional specifications, diagrams, etc.) necessary to understand the designs.
5. Develops code based on the designs laid out in the functional specifications and which conform to software coding best practices, including unit testing.
6. Fluency in one or more major object-oriented programming languages (i.e., Java or C++) and the capability to learn other programming languages as necessary.
7. Assists Quality Assurance (QA) engineers in developing and reviewing test plans.
8. Coaches less experienced engineering staff in the practice of software development.
9. Hold and participate in design and code reviews.

Design, develop, and maintain database software for:
� Media-rich web sites for entertainment, promotions, e-commerce, community, and broadband.
� Back-end web infrastructure for presentation, application, transaction, reporting, and administration systems.
� Asset management and production workflow.
Programming experience is required in:
� Relational & object oriented database design, application-side data caching, normalization levels, star schemas, and performance optimization.
� Oracle 8i, embedded SQL, ODBC, and JDBC.
� Java 2 (preferably Enterprise Edition), Oracle 8i Enterprise Edition, XML, and servlets.
� Industry standard web application servers, components, & services, such as: Dynamo (including RQL), Vignette, Cold Fusion, Interwoven, Accrue, E.piphany, CyberCash, etc.
� Web session management, transaction servers, personalization, privacy, and B2C.
Oracle developer certification and experience with web / UI development, network programming, portable software development, and Unix & NT native development is a plus.
