I am looking for a tool which will automate text formatting. You know, indentation, line length, spacing between methods, etc.
Anybody have favorites? Something that works as a JBuilder add-on would be ideal...

Haven't used JBuilder yet, had problems trying to download it from the site, but shouldn't it have all of that capability built into it? All the other IDE's I've used allow you to set whether or not to use tabs or spaces, how many to use, if you want to autoindent, if you want to match every { with a }, etc.

Try Forte for Java from http://www.sun.com/forte/ffj/buy.html It comes with more than one indentation engine.

He could probably try a multitude of IDE's. Does JBuilder provide such a feature? If so, find out how to implement it in that IDE, since your probably most familiar with it. I understand emacs has that capability, Forte surely does, so does JCreator.
Plenty of free downloads out there. Personally, I just get on my favorite search engine and look under Java IDE. Use whatever is intuitive for you.

I'd suggest switching IDE's to IDEA from IntelliJ (http://www.intellij.com) if you don't need the EJB wizards and GUI editor of JBuilder and Forte. IDEA offers far more customization of code layout than any IDE that I've used. The best part is the Layout Code command that formats code according to the settings you've chosen. So, you could write code in what ever style you choose (braces at the end of the line, e.g); then, choose the Layout Code command and you virtually instantaneously have clean, company standards-compliant code.
FYI,
Craig
