British Broadcasting Corporation (Technologies LLC Division) is an exciting software development and services company providing leading edge technology products for major media and entertainment companies. Their customers are industry leaders (like ESPN and NPR) who recognize the value of leveraging technology to stay ahead in a competitive market. They focus on digital broadcast, post production, management and workflow technology for the media industry. Their worldwide customer base includes a broad range of major news companies, cable and satellite TV operators, and TV and Radio networks.
Enterprise Architect;
We have an opening for an Enterprise Architect preferably based in our Atlanta office. This is a client facing position, up to 80% travel (Washington DC will be the first client destination).
The Enterprise Architect is responsible managing the full lifecycle of requirements, design, implementation, testing and deployment of large-scale systems for BBC Technology customers. Our products are targeted at the Broadcast industry, and are based on standard Enterprise Architectures. The Enterprise Architect must be experienced in all aspects of the software development cycle. Experience with Broadcast Production or business processes or the radio industry and DVB (digital video broadcast) over IP is highly desirable but not a must.
In addition to managing the full software lifecycle, this person must have experience with J2EE application servers (BEA, JBoss, Oracle Application Server), Messaging Servers (IBM MQ, Sonic MQ) and scalable databases (Oracle). Experience in DCOM is desirable, but not a must. Also must have experience with high availability environments including the ability to design server, storage and network architectures.
This person will work closely with a Project Manager to implement a comprehensive project plan. The Enterprise Architect will be required to interface with customers and guide a team of Requirements Analysts in gathering requirements. In addition, he or she will be responsible for managing a team of Technical Leads, who will each be charged with designing and developing an aspect of the system (UI, Middleware, Database, etc). The Enterprise Architect will manage defect tracking and issue resolution, as well as final system deployment.
Essential Functions of this Position:
1.Responsible for overall hardware and software architecture
2.Reports to Project Director
3.Responsible, along with Project Manager, for developing and executing against a project plan.
4.Responsible for ensuring that requirements team, engineering team and deployment teams are all following respective best practices.
5.Owns architectural specifications (UML drawings, ERD�s, Network Topology, etc)
6.Responsible for supervising unit testing, defect tracking and reporting.
7.Provide the highest level of technical knowledge on project.
8.Contribute to long-term product architecture and technical evolution.
9.Participate actively in the team organization and contribute to improve productivity.
10.Collaborate closely with product development team to feed new intellectual property or suggested improvements back into core product codebase.
11.Site travel required, primarily to East Coast clients.
12.Maintain Services Team�s adherence to design and coding standards.
13.Effectively document technical issues, changes to code, etc.
14.Ensure that team writes and maintain documentation describing program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and modifications.
15.Lead general project meetings and conduct specific meetings related to subordinate efforts.
16.Provides regular status and progress towards project development milestones.
Skills Required:
�Bachelor�s degree required with a major in Business, MIS, or Computer Science preferred; an equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered
�Minimum of 6 years of experience in software development, maintenance and deployment of database applications in an enterprise environment, writing project plans, and supervising software engineers
�Software Architecture design and implementation
�Database design and implementation
�Network and Server design and implementation
�Experience developing software for the broadcast industry desired but not required
�Strong technical, process, interpersonal and written communications skills
�Experience in development on Windows and Solaris platforms
�RUP or similar lifecycle methodology experience
