How to open a file in eclipse

If i want to open just a java file in eclipse, how to do that. I know eclipse is project based. What I want like in textpad file--open

Hi Sammy,

As you say Eclipse is project based. In order to open the file you need a project. This is kind of hard to get your head wrapped around but its worth it once you do.

I thought they were going to add a feature to Eclipse that would allow users to open a java file in the editor - in sort of a default project. Did that functionality never make it into 3.0?

Thanks! you can do that in 3.0 M9 (not sure about previous)

File->Open External File
