I have been an IntelliJ beta tester and user (at my previous company) for years (since at least v2). One issue that I've had (and actually why I stopped using IntelliJ) is that many/most people will not purchase a license for an IDE when they can get Eclipse for free. Having been a long-time IntelliJ user, I would really like to see some advise on working with other developers in a project where there's a mix of IntelliJ and Eclipse users, and how best to manage the inherent preferred project structure between the two types of users. If this were documented -- not just importing and exporting Eclipse projects, as can be done now, but instead really showing how you can work within an Eclipse-centric environment -- I think it would make life easier for a lot of people. Thanks!

Hello Peter,

Obviously, mixed Eclipse/IntelliJ IDEA teams are very frequent now, and we would like to support them better. For that purpose, we've implemented the possibility to synchronize the IntelliJ IDEA modules with Eclipse projects in version 7.0. We've also added an Eclipse keymap to facilitate migration from Eclipse to IDEA.

Could you please tell more about other issues that you're facing when working in a mixed team?

Hi Dimitry,

Thanks for the reply. Actually, I'll have to admit that I haven't been back to IntelliJ in a while (since IJ 5 or so), so I don't have any recent feedback which would help you guys out.

I'll download a copy of IJ 7 for use in the next project I'm working on, and will post any feedback I have for you with regards to Eclipse interoperability on the EAP boards. At my current company we've pretty much standardized on Eclipse 3.3 (or 3.2 in some cases), so I do have plenty of opportunity to try mixing in with active project development using Eclipse.

Best,
Peter
