Designation: Product Development Manager (JobCode: PDM)

Job Description

Qualification: Must posses a BE / BTech in Computer Science / MCA /or MSc � Computer Science preferably from reputed institutes such as IIT, IISc or REC with at least 8 � 12 years of experience.

Industrial Windows Programming C,C++, VC++, Sun, SGI ATL ,COM, UNIX,LINUX MFC,STL, HP, AIX
� Rational Rose, UML
� Oracle
� Design, architecture
� Product Development team management
� Good understanding and breadth of knowledge of technological trends and implications The candidate should have excellent grasp of any one of the technologies mentioned above , knowledge of the other would be a definite advantage and should have worked on either of the platforms

Work profile:
� Should have managerial experience of at least 2 years.
� Should have worked in a product development organization and been involved with several products through an entire life cycle.
� Must have an international exposure having worked with Multinational organizations.
� Has mastered all needed tools and development environments on all supported platforms, including, code management tools, image construction tools, documentation tools and regression test tools.
� Should have led a group of 10-15 engineers in a multi-tier environment.
� Knowledge of or experience in working in a CMM level company preferred.
� Should be fully proficient in all stages of software engineering. Applied work in software or related areas (numerical methods, mathematical modeling, etc.) becomes more important since technical leadership and guidance is increasingly a part of the job level expectations.

Candidate profile:
� This individual will provide management and technical leadership for a software development team in Bangalore.
� This person will work closely with the Project Manager and with the other R&D Managers to deliver a range of new capabilities and products and will lead the development effort for these products throughout the entire development cycle.
� This person will guide the team to ensure successful design and implementation of components, meeting overall product schedules and quality standards.
� Must provide outstanding technical leadership and will foster a positive and enthusiastic team environment.
� As a member of the product development organization, the Product Development Manager will be responsible for making contributions to the creation and maintenance of computational software.
� Should be an expert in the field of commercial software development and should be able to provide direction to what is considered the programming standards of the Company environment.
� Should make advanced contributions to new or improved products and to assuring maintenance of the company�s competitive position.
� Should act in an independent manner to perform consultation engagements for co-workers and to manage the interactions between them.
� Should be responsible for instructing, directing and monitoring the work of personnel on his/her project.
� Should have participated in Architectural designs o User interface designs
� Works on technically difficult tasks confidently. Makes requirements and design decisions considering broad impacts and implications. Is technical resource for company in areas of expertise; may lead or train other programmers on complex assignments.
� Works on novel algorithms, major architectural directions, as well as complex or multi-person tasks potentially spanning or impacting several groups. Is in demand for task forces and consulting and has company-wide reputation as expert in one or more product or programming areas.
� Reviews software reusability and impact on other products. Reviews level of effort and milestone projections and interaction with other projects and plans. Actively reviews and participates in other groups' projects when they involve areas of expertise or code experience. Takes active role in reviewing plans and projects that impact overall architecture, look and-feel or are otherwise complex.
� Ability to analyze and fix bugs.
� May also prepare and present training sessions.
� Develops good documentation and ensures that impact of project on documentation and related coordination issues are addressed.
� Assesses project plans in terms of schedule risk, technical risk and other business factors and identifies issues in all of these areas as appropriate in co-ordination with the Project Manager.� Maintains a Company-wide software perspective and raises issues of long-term expandability, maintainability, reusability, etc.
� Is fully capable of training or coaching others in use of environment and tools.
� Stays abreast of current and emerging technologies, theories, and methodologies. Takes an active role in exploring additional alternative requirements and design.
� May have primary technical responsibility for one or more Our products.
� Should have excellent communication skills.
� Must have strong interpersonal skills.
� Must display initiative and ownership.
� Should be mature and have the ability to operate under stress and demanding expectations.Accepts full responsibility and accountability for the projects. The individual in this position performs work according to established procedures, methods, and standards of the department.
