Hi Everybody,
I need some help..I have just installed a proxy server on Linux 7.1 (kernel 2.4.2-2). I have also installed the Squid 2.3 stable version as the proxy server. We are now able to connect to the http but, we have to use the proxy server as an explicity settings in the internet options of IE & specify the port 8080/3128 as per the Squid configuration settings.
What I want is the ipchains to be masqueraded so as to achieve access to all my POP & FTP applications. I did ipchaining, but still I am not able to get where the problem lies.
Can somebody of u through light on the same as I have searched the entire http://ipmasq.cbj.net site for the same, but with little help.
I shall be thankful to anbody & everybody who shares this problem & the way you have overcome the same.
Cheers
Kajol

Well,
Your using the 2.4 kernel, so you'll want to use iptables (it's better anyway). First things first, make sure iptables is compiled into the kernel, second, what commands are you typing in?. Are you automating it with a shell sript or typing it in at the command line?
maybe I can help a little with some info
and by the way, great choice of a packetfilter, the new netfilter package in 2.4 is great
