Anybody know if there's a version of Jython that'll run in a J2ME environment?
I remember there was a project at one time that would let you write Python code, "compile" it, then send the reuslts to a Palm handheld - but I'm looking for a development environment that I could run on my handheld (Palm or other brand).
Thanks for any assistance!

Sorry I'm no help here. I don't have a palm(tm). I've heard good news about Zaurus though.

Zaurus can run standard J2SE applications. So, I imagine it should not be hard to port Jython to high end PDAs. But for Palm devices, the underlying CLDC libraries have very limited capabilities. I think it would be quite hard.
You perfer highly optimized code rather than high level of abstraction on small devices.

Zaurus... yeah that sounds pretty good. Linux as an OS and 32MB (in the developers model). I wanted to get one at JaAvaOne, but they sold out way too quick.
I've sent messages to folks at Sharp and Sun - I think that with all the hoopla over wireless Java and the fact that Sharp was doing the promotion that they (Sharp) should either make more Developer models available (they only had 2000) or give registered developers a similar discount on the "Consumer" model.
If you're interested, please let them know how you feel.

I'd appreciate it if you pronounced my name correctly. Pinhead, with a silent "H". Petite ad:
