As for solving your problem, consider searching and posting at a Fedora-specific forum, like
Fedora Forum. There will be a far greater level of experience with Fedora there than here, a
Java website with a Linux forum.
One other thing
you should consider is using a Linux distribution that is more friendly to non-free media. I use Ubuntu and the latest version (7.04) is very easy to configure to play
non-free formats. The great thing about Linux is the freedom to choose. Choosing a distribution that doesn't match your requirements is just asking for trouble.
