A proven leader, communicator, and technical expert working with complex, enterprise-wide, mission-critical website applications and systems.
Responsible for web hosting systems with enterprise-wide focus, or for a large part of a mission-critical content or ecommerce site. Special projects are large scale and take place over a significant time period. Proven technical expertise in relevant state of the art technologies and systems, accompanied with expert systems design understanding. Can be assigned any problem or project and can meet objectives independently. Mentors others. Defines, builds and sets systems administration standards. Upholds strong documentation policies and procedures. Will lead projects and/or delegate tasks to others.
Typically has 5 or more years experience with relevant internet servers and with implementing, administering, and supporting production web servers and backend support systems. Has proven strong leadership skills and demonstrated well-organized approach to systems administration and troubleshooting. Communicates to all levels in the organization and serves as primary or secondary point of contact with Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
�NT and UNIX/LINUX experience. Expertise in system administration, configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, preventative maintenance, and security procedures.
�Web and application server expertise including administration, configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, preventative maintenance, and security procedures.
�Understanding of internet standards such as -DNS, FTP, SSH, HTML, XML,
JDBC, SNMP, SSL, HTTP, and other protocols.
�IP communication and packet structure, with focus on HTTP protocol and experience with network protocol analyzers.
�Network hardware architecting including experience with load balancing equipment, switches, routers, and network troubleshooting.
�Hardware systems design, RAID and disk subsystems, cluster management, troubleshooting, and hardware replacement.
�Experience in at least 2 relevant scripting or programming languages (perl, JavaScript, Python, C,
Java, etc).
�Use of monitoring and troubleshooting utilities to effectively diagnose problems.
�Internet Industry experience for 5 or more years.
Communication Requirements - must be able to demonstrate competency in at least the following areas:
�Ability to participate with other functional teams in systems integration and design
�Writing operational specs,
test plans and requirements management.
�Communication of ideas and solutions in a clear and organized manner
�Clear and effective presentations to groups of people
�Effective Project management and planning.
�Ability to design and deliver training to other Staff.
�Construction of concise and complete technical documentation
�Mentoring of Jr. Staff on technical material
�Detailed understanding of the goals and requirements of the business supported
In addition, demonstrate specialized knowledge in at least 1 of the following areas:
�Database administration/ operations
�Networking / architecture and /or systems / troubleshooting
�Storage
�Security
�Mail systems
�Java application development and support
