Error with focus

Hi,

I have a page that when a user comes in, he/she searches with some parameters and then a table appears that the user can type values in. I have focused on the first field of the table but i get an JS error when i first come into the page because the table is not there. Is there any code that can enable the on Focus after the "Search" button.
