Dear all,

I have succesfully tried opening a powerpoint file in IE using ActiveXObject("PowerPoint.Application"). But since ActiveX is not supported by fire fox as far as i know, how can i open it in firefox?
Please add your suggestions.

Thanks in Advance.

How about simply adding a link to the file? Either the client has PPT installed (in which case he may be offered to open it), or not (in which case saving it is the only option).

There is no alternative. If PowerPoint (or a program like Keynote that can open ppt files) is not installed, there's nothing you can do to make one magically appear.

Also Firefox will not open the file within the Firefox window (unless someone has theirs configured to do so - I think that's possible.) The default is to launch PowerPoint externally.

Microsoft does offer a free (Windows) PowerPoint viewer. You could have a link to this for people who don't have PowerPoint installed.
