In the taglines Anti-awards for 2001 at xml.com,
Edd Dumbill mentions that many people nominated
SVG or XSL-FO as Most Inappropriate Use of XML.
http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2002/01/02/taglines.html
Why? I have used each. As far as I can see,
metadata about layout is as valid to a publishing
application as metadata about a sales order is to
a retail application.
I have not followed (what is probably a flame war,
based on the name of the anti-award) discussions
in general XML forums. I usually search places
like JavaRanch when I have a specific question.
But there are usually seeds of useful information
(well hidden) on each side of a flame war.
Thanks,
Joe

"To redress the balance in favor of the usual cynical sniping, I'm happy to present the <taglines/> Anti-Awards for 2001, intended to burst some overinflated XML bubbles."
Michael Ernest will like it.
