hi all,
i am in the learning stage of xml,i have learnt the dtds and xmlschemas at present from the unleashed xml,i have read in many docs and pdfs that xml is used for datainterchange.
fine.
but i am not able to understand what it exactly is.
can anybody give me a very good example,of what datainterchange(technical example) is,and how xml plays a role in datainterchange so that i can proceed further with xml and stuff.
waiting for ur reply.

A currently popular example of data interchange with XML is SOAP, a rather complex protocol for exchange of data between systems. Here is the XML for a SOAP response that encodes a date - (my birthday as it happens).

Thats a lot of text to move a date from one system to another, but it is completely platform independent.
