Hello Sas Jacobs,

What is the best approach to adopting the new GUI style which AJAX brings about at client-side and keeping our exist investment on the server-side? We already have a web application built on STRUTS and Expresso (another Framework).I think I am kind of looking for a Framework combining Struts and Ajax.

Thanks,
Frank

Hi Frank

I'm have no experience with Struts or Expresso so I can only anwser in general terms.

One approach to combining Ajax with server-side frameworks is to use the server to generate the XML content complete with transformations. An Ajax style front end then allows you to load this content into the browser without the need to refresh the interface.

Ajax can make calls to server-side pages to extract relevant data, including passing parameters for filtering and sorting purposes. The display logic rests with the client while all the data handling remains on the server.

I hope that helps.

Cheers

Sas Jacobs
