Hi everybody! A relative of mine was surfing & an icon popped up on her taskbar that looked like the Microsoft automatic updates icon. She clicked it and instead of prompting her for the updates, it installed a bunch of nasty toolbars and the n-case software (these people use their skills for pure unsaturated evil).
4 hours later everything was removed, EXCEPT now every time she logs on to the web it tells her that an update has been found for Internet Explorer My Search toolbar and asks her to install it. This happens to be one of the nasty toolbars that I removed. Obviously I missed a component somewhere.
I know that this is quite vague, but does anyone have any ideas as to how to eliminate this problem? I was going to have her install some kind of spyware removal software - would that get rid of the re-installation prompts?
Thanks,
Lisa M.
