I have a java app that is on my desktop that I created. (Pointing to a jar file). How can I tell my shortcut to look out on our server and determine if there is a newer version, and if so, download it?

Have you looked at using WebStart?

I kinda looked at Java Web Start, but I got really confused when I did! It sounds great! However, I still don't understand how I get my current application to run in Java Web Start. Do I need to add something into my code? Still confused on exactly how it works, and what I need to do. Can you give me a nudge in the right direction?

I found a website that kinda shows how web start works. It shows that I need to create a JNLP file. I am developing applications in Eclipse. Can I create one of these in here, or is there a tool that automatically does all this for me? Thanks for any help!
