Is there a way to use JAAS that doesn't require editing files in the java enviornment. I'd prefer to be able to just create a deployable WAR and not have to edit java.security etc.

I'm new to JAAS, so maybe i'm just missunderstanding something

Thanks

Yes you can create a web app whose authentication mechanism is JAAS. How you do it differs per server. Be aware though that JAAS is not part of teh J2EE spec. so whether/how a server supports it will be different. WebSphere for example - you cannot use JAAS as an authtication mechanism in conjuction with form based login.

Hi Mark,
Hope u must hv solved it by now, but nevertheless, u can achieve the same without editing the java.security file by passing it as a System property to the JVM while starting your application.
