The key pre-requisite - You should know the basics of Java and fair understanding of J2EE architecture components.
We have attempted the book to include all basics to advanced concepts of Java security mechanisms used in the design, architecture, and development of Java/J2EE applications.
You may also want to read up on Core J2EE Patterns by Crupi, Malks, and Alur, and the Gang of Four (GOF) Design Patterns (Gamma, Helm, Johnson, Vlissides).
