Are you talking about HTTP authentication as it is supported by the servlet API? Then the Tomcat FAQ has a section on that with further links. That would also apply to other servlet containers.

If you're talking about something lese (like SSL or encryption), describe in more detail what problem you're facing.

hi, i wanted to learn more, that how to implement SSL securities ? in tomcat with jsp/servlets ?

i wanted to implement check-out module of shoping cart and wanted to use ssl secure layer for that !!

also in some post there was mentioned about the security implementation of ssl is differnet in Apache webserver and different in Apache Tomcat !!!

whats the difference ...

can you pls guide me how to proceed further !!! what should be my first step and then another big stuff i can experiment later on... i mean pls anybody provide the blueprint various ways to implement securities in jsp/servlets

Amit, you really shouldn't hijack a thread like this. It's perfectly OK to start a new one.

A good starting point for learning SSL might be the Tomcat SSL documentation. Install SSL on your Tomcat, see what you learn along the way, and come back here with questions (in a new thread).
