Security is a big topic, with many different aspects to it. Which parts are you interested in?

I'm not familiar with that term - what does it mean?

To get an idea of all that's involved, have a look at Overview of Java security, and the ava Security Evolution and Concepts series of articles. Then come back here with more detailed questions.

I'm not familiar with that term either, but I think this post might be better off in our security forum. Moving there...

Take a look at "JAAS" (Java Authentication and Authorization Service). You can find out _all_ there is to know about it from here:

http://java.sun.com/products/jaas/

If that doesn't cover all you need, take a look at Acegi (you might want to include Spring with that too).

http://www.acegisecurity.org/
http://www.springframework.org/

Hope that points you in the right direction...
